Mentone Little Athletics Relay Day

Phoenix Productions, William Angliss Diploma of Events Students, Estelle, Grace, Sarah, Leah and Chiara were privileged enough to take part in organising Mentone Little Athletics Relay Day at Dolamore Reserve, Parkdale, on the 11th November 2018. The purpose of the event was to raise money for the Mentone Little Athletics Club plus allow little athletes to sharpen their skills for the Southern Metropolitan Regional Relay Championships to be held the following week. With 500 registered teams ( nearly 1500 athletes) and over 80 races,  the day was a fantastic success!46351715_341151430021688_5410367897589514240_n

The day was a lovely sunny Sunday, which involved friendly competitive races, canteen and raffles. Phoenix Productions managed a very successful inaugural Parents Race which attracted a huge amount of participants.

The kids corner featuring colouring in competition and pin the medal on the athlete were also very popular. Furthermore, there was a jelly bean competition with Jelly beans so Kindly donated by Bayside Sweets and Treats.

Overall, the day was a success and we thank our teachers, team mates and sponsors for their support.

Bill’s Walk for Brain Cancer 2018

The Stage 2 Event Students had a wonderful time organising Bill’s Walk For Brain Cancer which took place on Sunday 21st October 2018.

The event team consisted of 5 students and their teacher Jacinta Francis, who organised a joyous Sunday Walk at the famous Tan Track, Royal Botanic Gardens to raise money for the Bill Tingate Brain Cancer Foundation.

There were 70 participants who attended from a diversity of ages and interests but with a common goal to support brain cancer care and research. A BBQ lunch was provided after the walk with lamb and beef sausages, aromatic caramelised onions, white bread and loads of healthy salad options.

After lunch, guests gathered around to hear the winners of the raffle and silent auctions announced.

The air was filled with cheers and applauses when each ticket was drawn. There were many stunning prizes to be won.

After the event, some participants stayed back to enjoy the beautiful Sunday afternoon sunshine.       

We enjoyed every element of seeing the event come to life– from the gaining sponsorship to creating marketing content for Facebook; from being at the Registration desk to cooking the sausage sizzle on the barbecue. We were grateful for each other’s efforts and dedication towards making the event a success. We thank The Bill Tingate Brain Cancer Foundation and William Angliss Institute for providing us such a rewarding experience.   

International Week of Italian Cuisine Opening Dinner

On Friday the 16th of November 2018, The Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) held the International Week of Italian Cuisine Opening Dinner at the Angliss Restaurant. The Emerald Events team, made up of three Stage 1 Diploma of Event Management students  were fortunate enough to help organise and run the dinner. The major sponsor of the evening was Divella, with other sponsors consisting of Antico coffee, Bertocchi, Birra Moretti, Casella and Pantalica. The Operational team for the evening were the incredibly professional hotel school students who did an amazing job and provided fantastic service throughout the evening.Continue reading

Blue Moon Musical Luncheon

The day was enjoyed by all, with lots of laughter and chatter heard throughout the venue. The theme was blue & Jazz, and Signature Events really embraced the opportunity to make the guests relive the Jazz era. Between the Blue Tones Jazz Band and our very own singer Kathy Lang, our guests were surrounded by a day of relaxation & fun. Along with a delicious 2 course meal catered by Chef2U, there were 10 raffle prizes to be won by the unsuspecting guests. This event was an absolute success and  enjoyed by all who attended.

Traveller’s Aid Trivia Night 2018

Traveller’s Aid Trivia Night was held on June the 14th in the Angliss Restaurant. This is the first year that Traveller’s Aid and William Angliss have partnered for this event. Traveller’s Aid are a not-for-profit organisation, operating in Melbourne and regional Victoria,  providing services to people with mobility challenges. In the 6th year of running this event, their main purpose is to raise funds for Traveller’s Aid, promote their brand so more people can benefit from the services, and to allow their major stakeholders, staff and families to network and have fun.

Moonlight Productions, a team of stage 2 events students studying Diploma of Event Management organised this event and ensured that it ran smoothly on the night. The event team worked with their project management teacher Kathy Lang, restaurant manager Jason Schumacher, and reservation manager Angelina Chung, in ensuring all event details were to a professional standard. The Hospitality Management served the canapes prepared by the Cert III Cookery students, and the patisserie students provided the scrumptious desserts and cakes.

The event was a great success meeting all the objectives.
