Today we went on a venue inspection to the Ritz Carlton. The hotel was elegant and luxurious from start to finish. Sharul guided us through the grand ballroom and shared stories of past events and their features such as trapeze artists, cars and a horse being bought into the venue.
The hotel was one of a kind with its glass pool cover that is strong enough to hold the weight of a car for special events. The Ritz Carlton in Singapore has been around for 20 years and was designed with the five elements in mind and the ancient art of feng shui.
It has also recently been recognised as the number one hotel for travel in Singapore. We were all highly impressed with the professionalism and etiquette of the hotel.
At last the moment had arrived for our visit to the Adventure Cove Water Park!
After spending the last 2 days in the hot sun we were all very excited to spend the afternoon enjoying cool wave pools and Singapores first hydro-magnetic coaster!
We were all very quick to get into our bathers and hit the first ride, as we hiked up the stairs to the first ride the nerves started to sink in and we felt very concerned as to how fast the slide was going to be.
The first pair to go down the dark and mysterious tube was Michael and Jacqui. The couple tucked themselves into their twin donut and were shrugged down the slide within 2 seconds the park was then filled by a loud howling noise coming from Jacqui’s squeal echoing down the tunnel!
After a few rides we all felt it was time to head over to the ‘Lazy River’ for a nice relaxing float, the river carried as around the entire park overseeing all the fish and stingrays within the park.
We finished the day with a full body blow dry and headed home with a smile on our faces!
The students and Corinne enjoying some local Thai Indonesian cuisine from Bumbu, a small restaurant in the Kampong Glam district. Students got a variety of of dishes including chicken, beef and vegetarian.
On the first day of our trip the group and I visited the STB- Singapore Tourism Board gallery. The gallery told the story of the development of the tourism industry and the changes throughout the event industry.
It reflected how far and advanced the workforce has come, ranging all the way back from 1973 to 2017.
The gallery used both audio and visual interactive pieces which allowed as to have a more exciting experience.
After dinner at Bumbu the group headed over to local streets to explore the various shopping experiences from Bugis and Kampong Glam. The local markets offered a range of different items through their souvenir shops, watch stalls and clothing boutiques. It provided us all with a greater understanding of different cultures.
The group and I, with our guide Rekah from Parkroyal on Beach Road on our first site visit of the trip. She took us around the venue showing us the different spaces such as The Grand Ballroom, Sky Ballroom, conference rooms and the kitchen area whilst giving us an insight on how meetings, conferences and private functions are planned at the venue.
On day 2 of our Singapore Trip , we went to the visitors centre to help us understand abit more about Singapore and all it has to offer. Rosie a worker at the Vistors centre gave us a talk on the historical and values that are shown within the people and the buildings. We were given a sneak peak into the Food festival participants that we would see later in the day . This was shown through an exhibit displaying their cultural foods and talents. Displays of various significant buildings in Singapore were shown around the info centre as they were made out of recycled materials Like cardboard. Rosie along with her staff were welcoming and provided us with helpful information that can be useful in our trip
As we arrived out of Changi airport, we were met by Adeline from William Angliss, who came and greeted us (even though it was her day off) and showed us onto our bus. The drive from the airport to Park Royal was roughly twenty minutes while we all looked at our surroundings as most of us had ever been to Singapore before!
Upon arrival we were greeted by the very professional hotel staff and quickly checked in. Our rooms are very comfortable, incredibly clean and super cold!
