Singapore day 2 – Chinatown

On day 2 of our trip we visited Chinatown and Maxwell Food Centre. We started our journey throughout Chinatown at a Hindu Temple. Our tour guide Karen taught us about the different Gods and the story behind Ganesh. We then made our way through markets where we learnt about Samsui, who were women that worked in constructions sites until their late 70s. They wore red hats to indicate who they were. We then made our way through more markets where Karen showed us her favourite childhood fruit, durian, which is the worst smelling fruit in the world. A few students tried the fruit and all were not impressed by the taste or smell.
