Functions Guest Speaker Series – Sandra Grima

Polar Events, an event group formed from the Diploma of Event Management students studying functions. This group included the following students: Aneliese Tannourji, Jordyn Parmesan, Sarah Searle, Jasmine Peak, Yu-Ting Huang. We organised the first guest speaker series, featuring Sandra Grima. The guest speaker series was held through an online zoom meeting on Tuesday the 28th of April.

Sandra Grima spoke on inspirational leaders and how they relate to us as Event management students. She spoke about real life leaders and their success in different job roles. She also discussed how each leader had their own method of leading or motivating. Sandra talked about what it takes to be a successful leader. She inspired us on how motivation, teamwork and communication are key values and skills which need to be used in order to be able to effectively work as a team. Sandra also gave examples of leaders in our current society; in relation to current COVID-19 and how they responded.

Polar events coordinated the event and was able to introduce Sandra, run the session successfully and facilitate all the questions from the participants.

An example of a morning tea menu was presented. This included a variety of small food options as well as a few beverage options was selected for the guests. Had this event been held at William Angliss, the morning tea selections would have been served after the speaker had finished for all of the attendees, including the guest speaker.

Overall, the event was a success for not only our team, but also for the attendees, as well as the special guest speaker. The Polar Events team were extremely lucky in having such an inspirational speaker join them in this event.
