On Friday the 16th of November 2018, The Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) held the International Week of Italian Cuisine Opening Dinner at the Angliss Restaurant. The Emerald Events team, made up of three Stage 1 Diploma of Event Management students were fortunate enough to help organise and run the dinner. The major sponsor of the evening was Divella, with other sponsors consisting of Antico coffee, Bertocchi, Birra Moretti, Casella and Pantalica. The Operational team for the evening were the incredibly professional hotel school students who did an amazing job and provided fantastic service throughout the evening.
The purpose of the dinner was to promote the upcoming International Week of Italian Cuisine and the various events organised by ICCI throughout that week. The menu for the evening was designed by world renowned Australian/Italian chef Guy Grossi and we were lucky enough to have the executive chef of Grossi Florentino, Matteo Toffano as the chef for the evening.
The dinner started with pre-dinner drinks in the foyer, then guests made their way into the restaurant. Guests were met at their tables by nine plates of beautiful antipasto which they grazed on and shared amongst each. After a few speeches. the entrée of Pumpkin Tortellini with Sage and Butter was served. For main guests enjoyed succulent slow cooked Flinders Island Lamb with shared sides of Italian Roast Potatoes and a Radicchio and Cos Salad. The evening concluded with a Tiramisu and Pane Forte gelato dessert.
We wanted guests to feel as though they had been swept away to a beautiful dinner party at a Tuscan vineyard and so we styled the tables with olive branches, lemons and tea light candles. The napkins were tied with rustic rope and rosemary, to add an extra touch. We created a display table in the foyer for Divella to showcase their products.
Overall the evening was incredibly successful, and we were thrilled with all of the positive feedback from our client and the guests.
Emerald Events would like to thank The Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Emanuela for allowing us to help organise and run their event, Silvana our Functions teacher for all of her help and support, Matteo for his guidance throughout the evening and incredible skills as a chef, and the waitstaff and William Angliss chefs for helping to make it such a successful evening. Grazie!
